L.1: Restricted Free Agency Auction (RFAA)
a. Starts March 14th of each year.
b. In this auction all tagged (restricted and transitioned) players will be auctioned off.
c. All restricted players will have a starting salary of 70 GP's. All transition players will have a starting salary of 35 GP's.
d. A 24 hour timer. Once 24 hours have passed without the high bid changing teams, the player goes off the board.
e. RFA's can be bid upon by all owners with the current team given the right to match the offer without increasing the bid. To clarify: the current owner does NOT have the right to match the final winning bid. The current owner will participate in the auction along with all other teams and has the right to match the current bid.
Example: Shonn Greene was slapped with the transition tag by team A. His starting salary in the RFAA is 35GP's. Team B bids 37GP's. If Team A wishes to keep Greene and not receive compensation, Team A can match the 37GP bid and reclaim high bid status. The next bid on Greene would need to be 38GP's to take over his control. This will continue (with Team A having the right to match bids) until 24 hours have passed since the last bid (or match) has been made.
f. Once a bid is placed you may not rescind it.
g. If you placed a bid that you do not have the compensation for. 10 GP's will be removed from your budget for the 1st occurrence and your bid will be removed. The GP penalty will increase by 10 GP's for each occurrence after the 1st.
h. This auction will take place in the Auction House within the league forum.
L.2: Unrestricted Free Agent Auction (UFAA)
a. Starts June 1st of each year.
b. Players that are included in the UFAA are those whose contracts have expired whom haven't been tagged and all other FA's including undrafted rookies.
d. The draft will be a proxy style auction held on the MFL auction board, with a 24 hour timer for each player.
f. Once 24 hours passes without the high bid changing teams, the player goes off the board.
g. The minimum bid is 1 GP.
h. Please refer to section L.1.G for over-bidding penalties as they will be the same for UFAA as they are for RFAA.
L.3 Stages of the UFAA
a. The method below is meant to keep the UFAA auction moving along at a respectable pace. The call to switch stages is the judgement call of the commish and not a hard and fast rule based on auction numbers...the numbers below are a guideline for determining if the pace needs to change.
b. STAGE 1
When UFAA starts, each owner may nominate up to TWO players for auction. An owner who has started TWO auctions may not start another one until at least one of those auctions end. An owner may not have more than TWO auctions started during stage 1 for any reason.
At any point during stage 1 if the number of active auctions is down to 14 or less, the commish may declare the auction at stage 2.
c. STAGE 2
When the auction is in stage 2, each owner may nominate up to THREE players for auction. An owner who has started THREE auctions may not start another one until at least one of those auctions ends. An owner may not have more than THREE auctions started during STAGE 2 for any reason.
At any point during stage 2 if the number of active auctions is down to 12 or less, the commish may declare the auction at STAGE 3.
d. STAGE 3
When the auction is in stage 3, each owner may nominate as many players as they wish for auction.
At any point during stage 3 if the number of active auctions is down to 5 or less, the commish may declare a one week deadline to start any more auctions. Auctions may go beyond this deadline but no new auctions will be allowed past this deadline.
